Lawson's Caddis Emerger - Tan

Lawson's Caddis Emerger - Tan

Developed by renowned Henry’s Fork angler and author Mike Lawson, the Caddis Emerger is a deadly pattern for imitating caddis in their transitional stage. Designed to sit low in the film with a trailing shuck and sparse, buoyant wing, it suggests a caddis struggling to break free of its pupal case—a stage when trout feed with reckless confidence. The mix of natural dubbing, ribbing, and soft hackle fibers provides just enough movement and translucence to sell the illusion of life.

This fly is most effective during active caddis hatches when trout are ignoring high-floating adults in favor of emergers caught in the surface tension. Fish it solo, as a dropper behind a dry, or in combination with other emerger patterns to cover the water column. This is an excellent fly pattern for evening caddis hatches on the Henry's Fork River in Idaho or the Madison and Missouri Rivers in Montana.

From Umpqua:

"Mike Lawson was born and raised in southeastern Idaho and has fished the Henry's Fork, a classic spring creek, his whole life. Mike worked on his latest book, "Spring Creeks", for over 12 years producing a comprehensive work about fishing spring creeks and tailwaters. His latest book, "Fly Fishing Guide to the Henry's Fork" was released in July 2012."
